Bands are to return to the stage at Maxwell Hall for the first time in a decade
It's played host to Paul McCartney, U2, Blondie, New Order and a legendary gig by The Smiths. And now bands are to return to the stage at Maxwell Hall at Salford University for the first time in 10 years.
And on Sunday, May 5, Maxwell Hall will once again host live music when it will be one of the venues taking part in the Sounds From the Other City festival. Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys will headline a set at the venue and will also host the festival's afterparty later that night featuring A Guy Called Gerald.
Sounds from the Other City founder Mark Carlin added "After almost a decade of working with the University of Salford, we're thrilled to be moving the heart of the festival onto the campus for the first time this year. That means we'll be hosting a stage at the historic Maxwell Hall, the first time anyone's had the chance to do that in 10 years and we'll also be setting up at Peel Hall and the newly established Old Fire Station cafe.
