Lego pays tribute to the iconic artwork with a highly detailed 3D set, featuring 2,615 pieces and a collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum. The set captures the essence of Van Gogh's masterpiece with incredible accuracy, including a removable frame and a link to a special podcast.
Lego is paying homage to the art of Vincent van Gogh with its latest set, a 3D model of his iconic painting, Sunflowers . This isn't Lego 's first foray into recreating famous artworks; in 2022, they released successful Lego versions of The Starry Night, The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai, and even Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. The new Sunflowers set, featuring 2,615 Lego pieces, was created in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
It meticulously recreates the famous painting's 16 sunflowers, attached to a brick-built canvas in multiple layers to capture the original brush strokes. The set also includes a link to a special podcast featuring the Van Gogh Museum's Senior Curator Nienke Bakker and Lego Designer Stijn Oom, who discuss the design process and the history of the original artwork. Standing at 54cm tall, 41cm wide, and 5cm deep, the Sunflowers set comes with a removable frame for wall display and a tile featuring Van Gogh's signature. Available for pre-order on the Lego website, the set will be released on March 1 for £169.99. Additionally, life-size brick replicas of the painting will be on display at the Lego store in Amsterdam and the Van Gogh Museum from March 1. A new Lego installation inspired by the painting will also open at the Van Gogh Museum this summer, traveling to Lego House Billund and Lego World Utrecht after. A virtual curated tour will be available later in the year for those unable to visit in person
