Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leicester City will want to learn their points deduction fate “as soon as possible” after failing with a legal challenge., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – urged the Foxes to “get stuck in” and “take your medicine”.
Leicester were charged in March with a breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules for the 2022-23 campaign and launched swift legal action against the Premier League and EFL. It has now been confirmed that an independent commission has dismissed the challenge and a hearing will now determine a punishment – which is likely to come in the form of a points deduction.
The club reported losses of £89.7million for the 2022-23 season alone, with top-flight sides only permitted to lose £105million over a three-year period under PSR.Steve Cooper will take charge at the King Power Stadium following their return to the Premier League – with his first game of the Foxes coming against Tottenham on 19 August.Join the Football Insider WhatsApp channel to get all our exclusives and the breaking transfer news FIRST.
