Josh Warrington is aiming to become a world champion once again as he takes on Leigh Wood in an all-British showdown for the WBA featherweight title this weekend.
Wood is making his first defence of the WBA belt he won back from common opponent Mauricio Lara in May. The Nottinghamshire fighter has proven his championship pedigree with other notable wins over Xu Can and Michael Conlan, but Warrington is no stranger to fighting world-class opponents. There is also a second world title fight on the card as Yorkshire’s Terri Harper defends her WBA super-welterweight belt and competes for the vacant WBO strap against Cecilia Braekhus in a fight that was originally scheduled for May.When is Leigh Wood vs Josh Warrington? Warrington will face off against Wood at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena on Saturday, October 7. The undercard will get underway at 7pm, with the ringwalks for the main event expected to take place at around 10pm.
