Man Utd are set to sign an 18-year-old centre-back who was wanted by Real Madrid and the deal is a major milestone for Ineos.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe didn't shy away from the biggest issue that has held Manchester United back when he completed his £1.25bn deal to invest in the club in February.
The 71-year-old has never really hid his feelings about the transfer operation at Old Trafford. A few years ago he called United the "dumb money" in football and a look at the rewards for the £1.6bn spend since 2013 would make that a fair assessment.ALSO READ: Everton baffled by Yoro fee amid United bids for Jarrad Branthwaite
They are making a good start as well. The deal for Joshua Zirkzee was wrapped up quickly after his involvement in Euro 2024 came to an end, with a deal agreed with Bologna that helped United navigate their own financial concerns. But it is the second transfer of the summer that looks set to cause a storm.
Yoro has already racked up 46 appearances in Ligue 1 and is probably the most highly-rated young centre-back in Europe. The fact he made the Ligue 1 team of the year speaks of his talent and he doesn't turn 19 until November. He could be a United centre-back for years to come.
