Leny Yoro has joined Manchester United in a £52m move from Lille despite previously attracting interest from Liverpool
Leny Yoro has explained how Manchester United persuaded him to join the club, despite previous interest from both Liverpool and Real Madrid, after he completed his £52m move to Old Trafford on Thursday. The 18-year-old, who had been due to be out of contract with Lille next summer, had favoured a move to the Bernabeu, with such a stance part of the reason why the Reds didn’t make a direct move for his services.
Liverpool opted against entering the race for Yoro following United’s bid, put off by the finances involved and unable to offer the centre-back guaranteed game-time given they already possess Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah.
