Landau in January of 2023 posted an image of himself with the superstar musical artist on his Instagram, saying, 'So great to have The Weeknd as a part of the Avatar Family,' adding, 'The song is the perfect fit for the movie.' In addition to his work on Titanic and Avatar with famed filmmaker James Cameron, Landau's credits included prominent films such as 1989's Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and 1990's Dick Tracy.
The filmmaker added: 'A part of myself has been torn away ... his zany humor, personal magnetism, great generosity of spirit and fierce will have held the center of our Avatar universe for almost two decades. 'Your wisdom and support shaped so many of us in ways we will always be grateful for. The memories we shared together will always hold a special place in my heart. Your legacy will continue to inspire us and guide us in our journey.'Actress Kate Winslet, 48, who worked with Landau on both Titanic and Avatar: The Way of Water, issued a statement to Deadline Saturday calling Landau 'the kindest and best of men.
