My wife and I drove off the ferry Malaspina in Haines back in 1975. We encountered three guys trying to get to Anchorage and decided to give them a ride. They hopped into the van and off we went up the Alaska Highway to Tok, and then down into Anchorage. It was a thoroughly enjoyable ride.
I seem to remember dropping our passengers off at a sister’s house and someone made a meal. That was my first Marx Bros. Cafe meal. Since that first night in Anchorage, those three hitchhikers made Alaskans proud to have such a world-class establishment and satiated because they serverd up the best Caesar salads, meats and salmon, not to mention the fabulous wines and desserts.here
