Seems like good value for Anchorage.

A couple of thoughts on the ballot propositions currently on the ballot in Anchorage that might provide some clarity.

Most are for capital improvements not any different than what you or your landlord would do to maintain a property. In total, all of them would cost $32.24 per $100,000 of assessed value. On a $400,000 house, that is $128.96 for police, roads, schools, parks and recreation, public safety, transit and state park access. Assuming the $128.96 cost, this works out to $0.35 per day on that $400,000 property.

Remember, each year bonds are retired, so thanks to all who voted for bonds that benefited my family — just as these will benefit yours. One other thing I would suggest for improving our city. There were 200,000 ballots mailed to register voters. If each voter would volunteer their time 5 hours per month, that would be one million hours per month to support our schools, churches, social services and food banks.
