Readers have their say on the favourite to be the next PM and delays over receiving a council tax rebate
The favourite to be our next Prime Minister has been photographed in front of a tractor and has said: “Unleashing the potential of our rural communities will be at the heart of this mission.”
This is from the person who negotiated the Australian and New Zealand trade deals. Her own department admitted that the deals will damage UK farming, which they said is “expected...to contract”. The NFU has confirmed this, saying the trade deal with Australia “will jeopardise our own farming industry and could cause the demise of many, many beef and sheep farms throughout the UK”.
I have still have not received the money or a letter. People I know who pay by direct debt have received their money. Everyone I know who does not pay this way has not received the rebate. I thought payments were starting to be sent in April? It is now August. How much longer is it going to take? The letter also says if you do not claim the rebate by August 20, the money will be credited to your council tax account.
I am on guaranteed pension credit so do not pay council tax so what happens to my rebate? It is people like me who really need the money – my bill has already increased by £50.
