Lewis Hamilton has completed his final permitted test days with Ferrari ahead of the 2023 Formula 1 season. The seven-time world champion, who made a highly anticipated switch from Mercedes to Ferrari , has been utilizing the team's allotted Test and Development ( TPC ) days to familiarize himself with the new car and team environment. Teams in F1 are restricted to 20 days of TPC running per year, with only one car allowed per outing.
Hamilton maximized his allocated TPC days, completing his fourth and final permitted test session at Barcelona on Tuesday. During these sessions, he got behind the wheel of both the 2023 Ferrari SF-23 and a modified 2024 challenger, designed to simulate next year's downforce levels. His test program included a first-day debut in a 2023 Ferrari at Fiorano in January, followed by two more days at Barcelona last week. This extensive testing was briefly interrupted when Hamilton crashed on the second morning of running last Wednesday.Hamilton's next outing will be a shakedown of Ferrari's 2025 car, the SF-25, at Fiorano under one of the team's two permitted filming days following the car's launch on February 19th. He and teammate Charles Leclerc will then officially test the SF-25 during pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 26th to 28th.
