Hamilton had hoped for a better result in Jeddah after a disappointing start to the season in Bahrain.
Lewis Hamilton has sent a message to Toto Wolff, his team boss at Mercedes, after finishing in ninth place at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He said that 'big changes' are needed from the team.
When Lance Stroll crashed early in the race and the safety car was brought out, Mercedes chose not to pit Hamilton. This left him in third place, behind Lando Norris and Max Verstappen. Unfortunately, no more safety cars were brought out, leaving Norris and Hamilton to run for a long time in an attempt to create a larger tyre offset during the final stages of the race. This strategy didn't work, and Hamilton finished in ninth place.
He added: "It was like I was in a different category when I was going through the high speed between the other guys around me, so it's frustrating for sure to be three years in a row almost in the same position." "We haven't made big enough changes perhaps. You look at the three teams ahead of us, they still have different concepts to where we are in some areas. So we've got some performance to add, that's for sure."
