An LGBT choir leader awarded the MBE has said it was a ‘privilege and an honour’ to attend the Queen’s state funeral.
At the ceremony, The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, described the Queen as ‘joyful, present to so many, touching a multitude of lives’.
‘There was the hymn which was sung at her wedding and the song from her Coronation. You could hear the timeline through the music, which I didn’t realise was going to be the case. ‘I thought Judith Weir’s setting of Psalm 42 was incredibly beautiful, and how they chose to juxtapose her with Vaughan Williams’ Psalm 34, which was arranged for her Coronation, was very moving.Mr Chew received his honour, announced in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours, for voluntary and charitable services to the LGBT community.
