Transgender UPenn athlete Lia Thomas comes in EIGHTH in 100yard freestyle race at NCAA championships
Transgender UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas, 22, pulled eight place in the 100-yard freestyle finals at the NCAA championships. She swam swam 48.18 seconds on Saturday, less than a second slower than her qualifying time of 47.37 seconds, which was a personal best. Thomas became the first transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I title on Thursday after winning the 500-yard freestyle race.
