The singer, 31, tragically died on Wednesday after falling from his room at the Casa Sur Palmero Hotel in Buenos Aires.
Liam Payne 's girlfriend Kate Cassidy has revealed they were originally meant to be in South America for five days, but extended their trip to two weeks, days before his death aged 31.
In a TikTok video, she said: 'We were supposed to be there for like five days but it turned into two weeks and I was just like, I need to go home.' Kate and Liam originally flew to Buenos Aires to watch his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan's concert on October 4, and he remained in the country after his girlfriend flew home.
He said: 'The alarm was raised at 5.04pm local time saying a person was lying in an internal patio at Casa Sur.'Afterwards we found out he had been a famous singer. Unfortunately the injuries he had suffered as a result of the fall proved to be fatal. There was no possibility of resuscitating him.' Liam's final Snapchat post showed him happily posing with his bikini-clad partner Kate - with the throwback photo previously shared by Kate to mark his 30th birthday last year
However, in May 2023, the couple sparked split rumours, with a source telling US Weekly: 'Liam and Kate have broken up.' He and his former bandmates Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, were brought together by Simon Cowell and former judge Nicole Scherzinger who saw their potential as a group.
Keen to capitalise on the boys' already devoted fanbase, Cowell moved quickly with recording for the band's debut album beginning in January 2011.
