A new documentary about Liam Payne's death has drawn criticism for its insensitive portrayal of the tragedy and its close proximity to the singer's passing.
A tourist has recounted the harrowing moment he witnessed Liam Payne 's fatal fall in a new documentary that has sparked outrage among fans for being 'invasive'. The programme, TMZ Presents: Liam Payne : Who's to Blame?, which has premiered in the US, has come under fire from viewers who are shocked by its insensitivity and the proximity of its airing to the singer's recent death.
In the documentary, hotel guest Bret Watson shared his traumatic experience: 'We happened to be looking out of the window of our hotel at the pool area to show her the view from the hotel.' 'We saw Liam fall... and so we immediately rushed out on the balcony to see what it was and when we looked down we could see that it was Liam laying on the ground.' He said he believes the One Direction star died instantly. Liam Payne, aged 31, tragically lost his life after plummeting from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October. The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office released a report finding 'alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants' in Liam's system, reports the Mirror. Authorities have dismissed the possibility of suicide, stating that 'in the state he was in, he did not know what he was doing and could not understand it'. However, in the TMZ documentary, Mr Watson shared: 'The wedding planner and I looked at each other like 'oh my God, this is real, this actually happened'.' He described the entire incident as 'heartbreaking' and 'haunting', confessing it was an experience he would never erase from his memory. His chilling narrative was presented alongside a review of police records, despite an ongoing investigation into the death.
