A Castle Douglas man is set to run in Scotland’s capital to raise money for a cause close to his heart.Liam’s dad, John, who is 43, was diagnosed with the in 2015 and since then the family has raised thousands of pounds for the cause.
Liam, who is 19, said: “Motor neurone disease is when the messages from the motor neurones slowly stop reaching the muscles. This leads the muscles to weaken and become stiff, this then can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe.“My dad used to coach my football team when I was younger. We would go out to the field for a kickabout. He was always one of my biggest supporters. When he was diagnosed it slowly all came to a halt and he was no longer able to attend these games with me.
“My dad’s condition has slowly deteriorated since 2015 but it doesn’t stop him being the strongest person I know. “I have three other siblings and my dad’s condition affected us all in a variety of ways but being able to fundraise for our dad’s condition matters to us all. “We have previously fundraised for him b in June 2020 before the world shut down.
