Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is being pushed to show leadership in the wake of the Commonwealth Games cancellation, with the deputy Liberal leader urging athletes not to take any pictures with Labor MPs in protest.
“I don’t accept that as our Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese can simply step back and take no responsibility.”
Ms Ley also called on Australian athletes to forgo any photo opportunities with Labor MPs until the situation is resolved. “There should be a really strong message going to the Prime Minister. Already there is one going to Daniel Andrews, that this is just not good enough.” The decision comes less than 18 months after Mr Andrews flagged Victoria's intention to host the games, spruiking it would bring"massive growth" to the state.
