Independent Senator Lidia Thorpe will miss parliament this week after sustaining injuries in a car accident in Melbourne.
Senator Thorpe was sitting in a stationary car last week when she was rear-ended by another vehicle, Sky News Australia understands.
Her absence comes as the government gears up for another fight with the Senate crossbench over its Housing Australia Future Fund. She said at the time that she would continue to vote with the minor party on unrelated issues such as climate change and housing.
