Occupying a central place on Liverpool's waterfront, The Albert Dock attracts thousands of locals and tourists every day - but decades ago, life there couldn't have looked more different. Today, it boasts an internationally renowned gallery, as well as restaurants, bars, shops, and, of course, the dock itself. But in many ways it was once a blight on Liverpool's waterfront before it became the landmark we now see.
Lee said: '‘It was us and a little bar downstairs, Hartley’s. 'That first day I was there with my pinny on jumping in between the kitchen and the bar. It was our first kind of operation where we had daytime business. 'And despite the fact it was a building site there was still a lot of interest, a lot of tourists. They came to see the Albert Dock but saw it was far from completed, but they were still happy with that.
