while growing their moustaches.
Movember has become a world-wide awareness month that was set up to help support men’s mental health and suicide prevention, as well as funding prostate cancer and testicular cancer research projects. This was Cllr Watling’s fifth time participating. He said: “Having begun shaving aged nine and needing to shave twice a day in order to stay clean shaven, it’s only fair I use my almost mutant like ability to grow facial hair to raise money and awareness for an issue that is very close to my heart.”Sadly, he passed away aged 42 from a heart attack.Cll Watling said nearing 42 and seeing his friends settle down made him feel he was going “nowhere,” until he sought support from Movember.
“From then on, I feel I owe it to others to participate in fundraising activities,” said Cllr Watling.Councillors Matt Turmaine and Dennis Watling on the third week of the charity month. If you would like to donate to the cause, visit
