Liliana Tovar Dalton, the San Antonio teenager who earned a golden ticket on “American Idol” a week ago, has dropped out of the competition. She announced her decision last week on what appears to be her Instagram account. The post read: “thank you all so so much for following my idol journey! nonetheless, i feel i should share that i withdrew from the competition before hollywood week. i am eternally grateful for the experience and the advice given to me by artists i so look up to.
The post concluded: “lots of exciting news coming up for those who continue to follow my journey!!!!” The news initially was reported on the Screen Rant entertainment website. A spokesperson for the show confirmed on Monday that Dalton had withdrawn. A senior at Antonian High School, she earned her golden ticket on the final night of auditions with an original ballad titled “5%.” While she won’t be the next American Idol, Dalton did avoid a stress-filled week in Hollywood.
