Ryan One, from Coatbridge, lifted the EFL League One trophy with the Imps
Coatbridge star Ryan One is celebrating after helping Lincoln City to the English League One title and Championship promotion this season. The 19-year-old striker has been on loan at the Imps from Sheffield United since January.
Last month, One scored in a 2-1 win over Reading that ensured the club would be promoted. And they went on to claim the title by a huge 12 points from nearest rivals Cardiff City, accumulating a whopping 103 points in the process.
One – who earned his big move to Sheffield United in September 2023 after impressing at Hamilton Accies – scored five goals in 16 appearances for the Imps this season and got his hands on his winners medal and the League One trophy following a 4-3 win over Wycombe on April 25. And One and his team-mates then got to savour an open top bus parade through Lincoln city centre on Saturday evening to share their success with their fans, with thousands lining the streets.
Promotion means next season will be the first time since 1961 that the club has played in the English second tier. Manager Michael Skubala said: 'I think it's been a historical season, the lads have been sensational this year. Getting promoted for the first time in 65 years, 103 points - what a season.
'Today is about celebrating it with the fans and celebrating with the city. The lads have made the city proud and today is about enjoying it together.
'For the older generations of fans that have been following this club for 60 or 70 years to finally see it in the Championship has been great. '
