There are numerous landmarks – far too many to mention – with my favourites including Burghley House, Lincoln Cathedral, International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln Castle and the Sir Peter Scott Lighthouse, where its namesake owner came up with his ideas for global conservation.– which is the biggest reserve in England – as well as a large number of working windmills, including the country’s tallest tower mill – Moulton Mill.
Our food is unquestionably among some of the finest in the land. You don’t need to take my word for it – Lincolnshire was previously voted the nation’s food capital. As well as the vegetables and cereals grown by our hardworking farmers we produce some of the tastiest cheeses, beers and sausages.
And how about this for a tale of community spirit. At its peak Spalding Flower Parade attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world. It began in 1953 as a way to celebrate the area’s horticultural links and involved numerous floats decorated with tulips, being paraded through the streets.
