Lamine Yamal, now 16, became the youngest player to score in the European Championship in Spain’s 2-1 semifinal win over France on Tuesday.

The photos were taken in the visitors’ locker room at Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium and featured various Barcelona players paired with different babies. Messi, who would go on to become the greatest player of his generation, was already in his fourth season with Barcelona’s first team and an established star, but Monfort said working with him for the shoot was a challenge.
“Messi is a pretty introverted guy, he’s shy,” Monfort told the AP. “He was coming out of the locker room and suddenly he finds himself in another locker room with a plastic tub full of water and a baby in it. It was complicated. He didn’t even know how to hold him at first.” Yamal, who, like Messi, came up through Barcelona’s La Masia youth academy, became the youngest player to debut and score in the Spanish league last year. He’s made 38 appearances and scored five goals for Barcelona this season. Messi, who became the youngest player to appear and score in a World Cup game just shy of his 19th birthday in 2006, led his country to its first World Cup title since 1986 two years ago.
