Published: Mar. 22, 2024 at 7:01 PM AKDTFAIRBANKS, Alaska - As congress continues to work on the federal budget, Interior Alaska is on track to receive a number of appropriations from the federal government for Fiscal Year 2024., supported by Senator Lisa Murkowski, have already been signed into law by President Biden.

The bills also include a million dollars to renovate a domestic violence shelter in Fairbanks. “This is the Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living that’s going to be seeing some support there that is much welcome,” Murkowski added. Protection from wildfires marks another item on the list, with more than $6 million between a few different efforts. “You can’t think about summers in the Interior without recognizing the threat of fire, and we have plussed up wildfire protection initiatives,” Murkowski said.
