The chairperson of Lisburn and Castlereagh planning committee, Alderman Martin Gregg, has recused himself from a contentious housing development application after reposting an MLA's social media objections. The decision follows a 'call-in' on the application, which proposes building homes near Lagan Valley Regional Park, raising concerns about potential environmental harm.

The post from Ms McNicholl showed her support for the objectors the 'Quarterlands Group' who "are fighting a development frenzy".
A comprehensive 90 page document from the main objectors, 'Quarterlands Group' lodged with LCCC, cites various environmental and biodiversity concerns. Former DUP leader, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson's correspondence on the NI Planning Portal is identified as 'neutral' although the ex-MP for Lagan Valley asks that "careful consideration" be given to the "concern raised by local residents".
