Little-known French island near the UK has 60 beaches and Med-style climate
WHEN it comes to islands in France, most people think of Corsica, being the largest one.
However, Brits may not have heard of another island - which has beautiful beaches as well as fantastic weather.Credit: GettyIt has more than 60 beaches across the islandBelle-île is the largest of the Breton islands, and is known for the multi-coloured houses lining the streets. There are two ports on the island - Palais and Sauzon - which are both found on the north of the island.
Belle-île, which translates to "beautiful isle at Sea," was taken over by British troops back in 1761, although was returned toAround 5,300 people live on the island, with the summer being the busiest season for tourists where numbers can reach 35,000.
