We hate to break it to you but, even though you might think you’re doing a good job at washing your hair, you might actually be damaging your locks when you sud up.
“Scrubbing the hair can lift and damage cuticles, which is what can encourage frizz and dryness,” warns Aaron, who is fresh from creating the hair looks for Little Mix’s latest single, Holiday. “Shampooing and styling can cause the hair cuticle to be more susceptible to further erosion,” adds Zoe Irwin, the celebrity stylist who looks after Lisa Snowdon’s locks. But thankfully she has a handy pre-wash tip – brushing through hair and detangling knots before you lather up. This will lessen any pulling and snagging when hair is wet.
Keeping the actions very gentle and your touch light will ensure your hair is less likely to tangle up during washing. The gentler you are as you work the product in, the less likely your strands are going to be frayed.
