HBO has ordered an eight-episode Green Lantern series called Lanterns, which will be the first live-action show in the new DCU.
HBO has given DC's upcoming live-action series Lanterns a straight-to-series order. The drama series, based on the DC comic books, consists of eight episodes, and 'follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
” Lanterns does not have a release date yet, but now we know that it's still set to be the first live-action series of James Gunn and Peter Safran's rebooted DCU. Back when Gunn first laid out his plans for the first chapter of the DCU, he claimed that Lanterns would be the fourth project, following Creature Commandos, Waller, and Superman. Gunn and Safran added: “We’re thrilled to bring this seminal DC title to HBO with Chris, Damon and Tom at the helm.
