Motorists are being advised to avoid the area

The police, fire and ambulance services have been called to the collision on O'Neill Road this afternoon and are asking motorist to avoid the area and to find alternative routes for their journies.A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police, alongside emergency service colleagues, are currently in attendance at a serious road traffic collision in Newtownabbey .Please seek an alternative route for your journey.

It is understood that a number of people have been injured as a result of the collision with multiple ambulances at the scene.
