Live Storm Otto map and UK weather updates as severe winds batter Yorkshire with traffic chaos and power cuts
Storm Otto has hit Yorkshire leaving vehicles blown over and some homes without power.
A 12-hour weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for parts of Yorkshire today as strong outbreaks of "hurricane-force" winds could cause "danger to life". The Met Office said winds would reach speeds of 60-70 mph, and people in Yorkshire are being urged to be cautious. Commuters are urged to plan ahead of travel and drivers are warned to travel with caution. Around 6.15am on Friday morning a lorry was seen blown over on the A1M Northbound due to the strong winds.Traffic cops for North Yorkshire Police said they are receiving a number of calls reporting HGVs being blown over on roads. Northern Powergrid has also warned that the weather conditions may cause power cuts, with some areas already being affected.Follow live updates on Storm Otto below.
