The data showed that 517,000 jobs were added to the US economy in January, above 188,000 expected by the average of forecasters. "The worry of course is that the much better than expected data is bad news if the Fed sees this as bolstering its case of two more hikes and keeping rates elevated for longer," wrote NAB analyst Tapas Strickland.
