Twitter chaos: Musk is shuttering newsletter platform Revue
It's now over a month since Elon Musk purchased Twitter on October 28 for $44 billion. Though given how wild this unpredictable rollercoaster has been you'd be forgiven for thinking it's been much longer since the Tesla and SpaceX CEO added another company to his portfolio.
Or maybe he didn't forget. Revue informed content creators on Wednesday that it would be shutting down on January 18, 2023. From the email: Revue was scrappy and buggy in the early days, but grew quite robust and useful, especially under Twitter. It even launched paid subscriptions. Still, it was never as buzzy as Substack and it could be argued that many people never heard of it.
This means we now know exactly what Twitter plans to do about the millions of Twitter verifications that were handed out to companies, officials, celebrities, social media managers journalists, and other notables over the last 16 years. If Twitter users do not pay $8 a month the checks disappear.
