There are five miles of congestion near J47 at Garforth and at least 50-minute delays
The M1 in West Yorkshire has been closed after a multi-vehicle crash this morning., Leeds. Multiple cars have reportedly been involved in a crash.
There is at least five miles of congestion and traffic is in gridlock. At 8.27am National Highways reported there were 50-minute delays.Drivers are being warned to allow extra time to travel this morning if they are driving near the area. A spokesperson for National Highways said: "Traffic has been STOPPED on the M1 northbound in West Yorkshire within J47 due to a multi-vehicle collision. Our Traffic Officers are in attendance alongside emergency services.
Eyewitness Mick said: "There has been a big crash M1 north, Castleford, and there is a massive tailback."
