There are several issues causing Boxing Day chaos on the M6
Motorists travelling in and around Lancashire are experiencingAs many head out to see family or make the most of the sales , there are tailbacks in several areas of the motorway. According to National Highways, this is due to several incidents.
There have been multiple closures - including four between junctions 19 and 18. Although these have been mostly cleared, two lanes on the carriageway remain shut.Elsewhere in Cumbria, a separate traffic problem on the southbound route has traffic trailing around Shap. Both incidents are expected to have a knock on effect to those planning or already making journeys today.
Motorists heading out are advised to plan ahead, and avoid congested areas where possible. Near Cheshire, a multi-vehicle crash is currently halting traffic travelling southbound.and other major routes in and around the county this Boxing Day. Scroll down for more updates.
