There are several vehicles parked next to Bloom Bar, on the Promenade.Emergency services are believed to have been called to the scene shortly before 3pm. The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.This is an ongoing incident. HM Coastguard and Lancashire Constabulary have been contacted for more information. Susan Richardson, who is currently on a three-day break in Blackpool, was among those who watched the drama unfold. The sea has been really choppy today but we can't see what's actually happening or what they're looking for."
Another bystander, called Reece, said that "everyone stood still" as the helicopter arrived. "It's hard to see what's going on," he said. "Everyone's trying to keep a respectful distance.
