Campaigners have gathered to 'guard the entrance' to the site of Ryebank Fields
Protesters have gathered at a controversial green space development site on the border of south Manchester and Trafford as they claim diggers are about to move in. Locals have been fightingincluding 120 homes.
This action today is just a bit of clearance so we can have vehicle access for the site investigations.A group of residents is holding watch at the gates. "We are not obstructing," says on resident, "we are just letting them know that we are watching their every move."Charlotte says the diggers are here to create a path for vehicles to access the site so preliminary works and surveys can take place.
These works are for surveying purposes only and are not related to construction. No planning application has been submitted at this point. The Save Ryebank Fields Campaign say they were told at the scene that "this is the day that this entrance becomes a building site"
