Conditions at the Al-Shifa hospital, the largest in Gaza, are “catastrophic” as essential units collapse, the facility's director told CNN, also warning that premature babies at the hospital are being wrapped in foil to keep them alive after oxygen supplies ran out and they had to be removed from incubators.
Israel claims Hamas houses its headquarters below the hospital building. Hospital doctors and Hamas deny that claim. The situation at Al-Shifa hospital is part of a deepening Gaza health care crisis, with the territory's second-largest hospital also out of service, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society. Meanwhile, a CNN team in southern Lebanon has heard frequent detonations in the area bordering Israel on Monday.
