Chelsea manager Emma Hayes believes the race for the Women's Super League title is 'done' after her side were beaten 4-3 at Liverpool on Wednesday.
Emma Hayes is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season and take over as manager of the USA national team.Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said "the title is done" after her side were beaten 4-3 by Liverpool in the Women's Super League on Wednesday.
Aggie Beever-Jones' ninth-minute finish had put Chelsea ahead - and seemingly on course for a routine win on the road as they eyed a fifth straight WSL title. "This team has done a tremendous job in my time here to really compete and push for titles," added Hayes. When Hayes announced in November she would be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season to take charge of the United States women's national team, they still had a chance of finishing 2023-24 with a historic quadruple.
"It's not to be this year but I'm sure Chelsea will continue to be at the top of the game and it's important that we go out in the best possible way."Aggie Beever-Jones' netted a brace against Liverpool on Wednesday, taking her tally to nine in the WSL this season.
