Liverpool manager Arne Slot faces disciplinary action from the FA after being sent off during the 2-2 draw with Everton. The FA has charged both Slot and his assistant manager for alleged improper conduct towards match officials. Both clubs have also been charged for player and staff behavior after the final whistle.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been formally charged by the Football Association following his dismissal after his side's 2-2 draw with Everton on Wednesday. However, the initial announcement was subsequently deleted. The Athletic's James Pearce confirmed that the initial announcement was a mistake. The FA has since clarified the charges against Slot and both clubs.
It is alleged that Slot acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words or behavior towards both the match referee and an assistant referee after the match had finished. There are also allegations that Liverpool's assistant manager acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behavior towards a match official, which led to his dismissal. Further, it is alleged that he acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behavior towards a match official after being sent off. Both clubs have also been charged for allegedly failing to 'ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way following the final whistle'. All four parties have until Wednesday, February 19 to respond to the charges. This means that, despite his sending off, Slot will be on the touchline when Liverpool face Chelsea on February 18. Slot was asked about the incident that led to his red card in his pre-match press conference on Friday. 'What happened was the extra time, additional five minutes, it ended up being eight. The emotions got the better of me. If I could do that differently... I am hoping to do it differently next time as well.' There was a VAR incident for two minutes, where I thought it may be a foul and then it could be offside. Many things happened - it wouldn't be smart to go into every incident.
