Liverpool could be set for a reunion with Joel Matip if one of the latest transfer rumours is to be believed. The former Reds centre-back left the club earlier this summer as a free agent when his contract expired. Matip was signed on a free transfer in 2016 after he left Schalke, and went on to spend eight years at Anfield and form a famous centre-back partnership alongside Virgil van Dijk under former manager Jurgen Klopp .
According to reports, it seems that the former Anfield hero may be returning to the Premier League very soon. It has been reported by Sky Sports that West Ham are exploring the free agent market for a new centre-back. As a result, it is claimed that the Hammers have identified Matip as a potential option to sign in the coming days or weeks. John Egan, who left Sheffield United in the summer, is another player that West Ham are thought to be looking at signing alongside Matip.
