The Liverpool Everyman Theatre opens its doors to provide a behind-the-scenes experience and share some backstage secrets. The theatre held free tours, Q&A sessions, and family-friendly activities to celebrate its connection with Frederick Douglass, an influential African-American figure of the 19th century. Visitors were able to explore usually restricted areas of the theatre, including the wardrobe and backstage areas.
The Liverpool Everyman Theatre has opened its doors to offer a rare behind-the-scenes look and share some " backstage secrets ." Today (Saturday, March 23) the theatre held free backstage tours, Q&A sessions, and family-friendly activities across the building to mark the theatre'sDouglass was considered one of the most important African-American s of the 19th century and visited Liverpool and Ireland in the 1800s, championing the abolition of slavery, women's rights and freedom for Ireland.
The plaque will read:"Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one’s thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist."
