Merseyrail's Class 507 trains go on farewell tour ahead of being retired after 48 years in service.
The 507 Class unit will set off from Hooton railway station later and make its leisurely way to New Brighton and back over the course of the day.
Tickets for the trip have sold out, with everyone from rail enthusiasts to ordinary commuters who have used the service over the years expected to be on board.
