Joel Matip and Curtis Jones were not pictured in Liverpool training on Wednesday afternoon
Curtis Jones and Joel Matip were among those missing from full Liverpool training at the AXA Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, neither player appeared to take part in first-team training at the AXA Training Centre as the rest of their team-mates were put through their paces ahead of this weekend's clash against Bournemouth. The duo were the only senior members of Sunday's squad not pictured in the session. Yet there was some good news at Kirkby as Thiago Alcantara continued his return to full fitness and was involved in the full session ahead of a potential first appearance in four months when Bournemouth visit Anfield on Saturday afternoon. The Spaniard missed the final two months of the season and the Reds' summer tour due to undergoing surgery on a long-standing hip issue.
“He’s now training. He came in and asked about his role and we spoke," said Klopp. “[He’s a] super-experienced player. He stepped up in that department. He has only been in team training for a week but very vocal. He is going to be very helpful for us.”
