Liverpool Olympia is marking its 120th anniversary with a special birthday show featuring British rock band Embrace, The Bluetones, and The Real People. Liverpool Olympia is preparing to celebrate its 120th anniversary with a special birthday show. Opening in April 1905, the Grade II-listed building was designed by architect Frank Matcham and was taken over by the Zorba family in 1990. The anniversary show will honour the venue’s cultural heritage and the acts that have walked through its doors. Over the course of its life, the venue has hosted everyone from The Beatles, Paul Weller and New Order to Little Richard and Harry Houdini.
Britpop band The Bluetones will appear as special guests. They first came to prominence in 1995, when their debut release 'Are You Blue Or Are You Blind' before going on to secure a number one UK album, 14 hit singles and six albums. The Real People, another Britpop band, will play the venue for the first time. The line-up is completed by Liverpool's indie-hybrid group Rats.
