Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch turned in star showings for Liverpool as they saw off Leicester in the Carabao Cup

Ryan Gravenberch and his national teammate Cody Gakpo combined for a crucial Liverpool goal as the Reds came from behind to beat Leicester in the Carabao Cup. Gakpo scored the first, while a thunderous strike from DominikThe Reds continued their recent trend of conceding early, as Kasey McAteer finished past Caoimhin Kelleher after a well-worked counter in the third minute.
The Liverpool response was a spell of pressure. Ben Doak hit the woodwork. Gakpo had an effort smartly denied by Jakub Stolarczyk. Diogo Jota squandered a chance from two yards out with the goal gaping. Conor Coady cleared a Gakpo header off the line.The Reds eventually equalised, with Gravenberch setting up Gakpo, who pivoted and fired home the leveler shortly after half time. Gakpo should have added a second a few minutes later, but his lofted header hit the bar.
