It first opened its doors back in the 1960s

Liverpool's oldest Chinese restaurants has said farewell to customers after 56 years in the city centre. Earlier this week, the ECHO reported how Yuet Ben on Upper Duke Street announced the closure of the popular restaurant as the owners begin their retirement. Since 1992, the business has been run by Theresa and Terry Lim after Terry was taught the trade by his father-in-law as a waiter decades ago.

' Over the years, Yuet Ben's dishes have also gained wider attention, with the Hairy Bikers and a German food television programme coming to the restaurant to film. Well-known faces from the world of arts and sports have also dined there, such as Dawn French, Les Dennis, Stan Boardman, Henry Winkler, Julian Lloyd Webber, David Dimbleby, Alan Hansen and Sir Kenny Dalglish. Cliff Richard also popped in for some veggies spring rolls.
