After Truss resigned, Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of the Conservative Party 1922 Committee, said there would be a contest.to decide the next Prime Minister, the Tory party is drawing up the rules for its latest leadership election, the fourth since the Brexit referendum in 2016.The only definite is that it will be a short contest and the leader chosen by next Friday, October 28.He added: “There will be some clarity later.
“The Prime Minister only formally resigns and recommends a successor to the Monarch once this process is over.”
