Chicken factory owners accused over job losses
The company announced last month that it had begun a consultation over the plant's closure, after saying the site would require too much investment to try and keep it afloat.Worker Andy Ferguson said news of the closure had come as a "big shock" for staff
"It is both astonishing and disgraceful that 2 Sisters have failed to request financial support from the Welsh and UK governments," he said. "2 Sisters are a profitable company with multiple sites across the UK, they have to act in a socially responsible way."Anglesey council's leader said it had worked hard to try and safeguard the jobs"The question was asked yesterday [Friday] about the support that they [2Sisters] had asked from the government and it came back that they hadn't asked from either government for any support, which is quite disappointing," she added.
Ms Medi said the local authority had made sure "every stone was turned" to safeguard the jobs, but said: "If the company haven't put any proposals forward to both governments, I'm not sure what else we can ask.
